RE: Gas availibility on I-95, Ga, S. C. and N. C. ?

I'm on the OBX now and there is no problem with gas here. Paid $3.75 yesterday in Nags Head.

RE: Big Foot

Cal Big Foot at 800.752.9815. They were very helpful when I had problems. Have you checked your hydraulic fluid? The caps where the fluid is added have little holes that become plugged, have you checked them? There is a limit swich that compresses (looks like a pin sticking down) is it moving freely? Call Big Foot. Good luck.

We've been in 102 and you shouldn't have any problem there. Have a ball.

RE: LP gas while in motion...

Always run with my frig on and have never had a problem. Some folks say it is a safety hazard, but I have never been able to get them to come up with evidence. Now for your original question. Most tunnels want you to have the propane shut off, but I have never heard of an open highway with propane restrictions.

RE: Black Holding Tank Won't Drain

I would pour a whole bottle of Dawn dishwashing detergent (great for getting organics into solution) add one bottle of Calgon (makes things separate and go into solution) and then fill the tank with water. Take for a drive to mix everything up and wait a couple of days before dumping. If you don't have a flushing nozzle on your tank buy one of the wand spray attachments that you stick down in the toilet. Turn the spray on while dumping. Next: get a quart jar, fill it with water and put a piece of your TP in it and let sit for 8 hours. If after 8 hours, your TP isn't broken down, you need a different brand of TP. How many females are using your toilet? More females = more TP so if they aren't using enough flush water you can get clogs.

RE: Best way thru Atlanta

I-20 to I-85 and I hope you are headed North bound on 85. Once you get on 85, stay in the left two lanes. Traffic is bad but if you stay over next to the HOV lane you should move along pretty well. Advisory for those headed South on 75/85 through ATL on weekends: There is a repaving project and traffic gets backed up for 10 miles.

RE: I-10 is still a mess...however

We always take 190 through that section. Easier on me and the coach.

RE: Allison steps up!

You're the second person that I've heard of with Allison stepping up to help out when a transmission failed out of warranty. :C

RE: Workhorse - Ford Chasses

On my second Workhorse chassis and haven't had any problems. I do know that many service people aren't aware of grease fitting on the right side of brake bell crank. Can this be a problem? I don't know.

RE: Where else to go?

I'd stop in Pensacola and tour the Naval Aviation Museum and Mobile for the USS Alabama and submarine USS Drum then visit Fort Conde in Mobile. About 50-75 miles in Georgia on I-75 is Agrirama historical farming museum and the Georgia Peanut Museum with campground and easy on off the interstate. Campground fee covers entry for all campers into the museum. Check it out on-line.

RE: Has anyone been to the RV/MH Museum & Hall of Fame?

We were there two weeks ago and loved it. If you go, don't miss the MH built for Mae West. It must have really been special in it's day. I'll post some pictures on my blog in a day or two.

RE: Screen Door issue

Check to see if the door is square by measuring the distance from TT frame to door frame top and bottom and non-hinged side. You may need to shim one hinge or actually bend the door up on one side. Hope this helps.

RE: Class A MPG , a more simple solution?

Food for thought. It would be a shame to drop that expensive oil out at 6 months!!! Workhorse advises to maintain the oil change intervals as prescribed in the manual whether you use synthetics or regular oil. The reason given was the contaminants that get into the oil regardless of type.

RE: trip planner

We use Delorme and wouldn't do without the Trucker's Atlas. Good Sam's routing is great to check for low clearances and then we check the Mountain Directory Advisories for steep grades. Then comes the fun. I go to Google Maps and do what I call "flying" the route by going the entire distance in 3D. Members of FMCA can order routings for trips from FMCA and get some good sectional maps. We stay off interstates whenever possible.

RE: Class A MPG , a more simple solution?

In some applications I have seen a legitimate 2-3 MPG increase Unless you have an identical vehicle with identical loads with identical acceleration curves, the above can, at best, only be a guess. I use synthetics simply for better lubrication not for better mpg though it may help, but I have no provable evidence. The thing that works best for me is getting off the interstate and driving at 55. I recently took US27 from Southern Tennessee and picked up US 127 around Lexington then into Indiana picking up 27 again into Decatur IN. The route ran through valleys most of the way and doesn't have the steep grades of I-75. There weren't many slow downs for towns and the traffic was easy to drive in. Since we make this trip 3-4 times a year, I have good mileage/gas useage information and this time I cut my fuel consumption by 28%. I was going 55, easy acceleration, no steep grades, and was able to stay on cruise control just about all the way. It took longer, but I'm retired and no longer go by someone else's timetable.
